The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Risk Management Directorate (RM) – Operations Department (OPE) – Public Sector Entities and Financial Institutions Division (PFI) ), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a (Senior) Credit Risk Management Officer. This is a full time position at Grade 5/6.The term of this contract will be 4 years.Panel interviews are anticipated for February 2021The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, according to business needs, with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organisational requirements and individual performance.PurposeProvide credit opinions on proposed new transactions and changes to existing transactions, in accordance with the Bank’s Credit Risk Guidelines (CRG), and propose and contribute to the ongoing development of internal rating methodologies and Departmental procedures, in order to maintain the credit quality of a highly diversified portfolio of transactions.Operating NetworkReporting to the Head of Country Group 1 Unit, you will work in close cooperation with other team members, and have extensive contacts with colleagues across Risk Management, and in front office Lending, Transaction Management & Restructuring, and Legal, as well as, occasionally, with external counterparts. You will also maintain contact with Rating Agencies, and other relevant external information providers.The work is varied, covering a broad range of transaction types in diverse geographical locations.Accountabilities Assess credit risk, formulate opinions on credit proposals, review and validate counterpart ratings and credit limits, and calculate risk pricing Propose security/collateral requirements and risk mitigating clauses Review legal documentation from a credit risk standpoint Work with other transactional departments in structuring and mitigating credit risk Closely follow and report on counterparts/transactions requiring special attention Check the quality and correctness of credit risk related data input into various IT systems Deal with credit risk related enquiries from within the Bank and provide solutions Contribute to the development and improvement of procedures, support and control systems, IT systems, methodologies and working tools Provide advice and recommendations on complex credit risk issues and related policies for credit risk management, aligning the EIB with best banking practices Periodically, take lead or participate in horizontal tasks concerning e.g. rating modelling, industry standards, initiatives and working groups at bank level etc. organising work or providing needed written contributions Ensure good relationships with internal clients and appropriate internal co-operation and communication Maintain awareness of the latest developments and share learning and innovation on risk management methodologies, within RM and across the Bank.Qualifications University degree, preferably in Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related subject. Post-graduate education would be considered an advantage Significant relevant professional experience in credit risk assessment of and/or lending to financial institutions and/or the public sector Experience with credit risk assessment methodologies and rating agency criteria. Proficiency in reviewing complex legal structures Deep understanding of the Bank’s standard computer applications, as well as the specific IT applications supporting operations Excellent knowledge of English and/or French and a good command of the other (*).
